Sometimes, when things feel heavy or uncertain, it’s okay to give yourself some space …..it’s the most loving thing you can do! And when you return, you bring fresh energy, a new perspective and a lighter heart………and that’s when Magic happens!
Fortitude is a quiet celebration of resilience—it takes courage to pause, it takes courage to walk away, to surrender, to trust!
This piece began with struggle. The reference image wasn’t working very well for me, the light and shadow was off and I also made some mistakes in the composition and realized it only after adding a few layers of watercolors. I was overwhelmed trying to find a way to fix it and to make it ‘perfect’!
I tried for a few weeks, but it was so frustrating that I actually started avoiding going to my studio because I did not want to deal with this painting. And finally I decided to just put it out of my sight!
Almost 10 months later, I found this painting as i was clearing up things in my studio and I thought that since it was already ‘ruined’ why not just use that sheet for practicing my ideas.
I started painting - without any expectation, without any pressures… just curiosity and playing for the joy of the creative process……….and something shifted!
Layer by layer, Fortitude unfolded with softness, strength, and clarity. It went on to be juried into exhibitions and win awards—but what matters most to me is what it represents:

that returning can bring a whole new kind of magic……
I started this painting for my love of succulents and their powerful symbolism:
The cactus survives and thrives even in harsh, dry conditions, holding on through it all. It’s a symbol of strength, resilience and perseverance.This calming yet powerful piece features a cactus in bloom—its bright yellow flowers rising with joy and beauty despite tough conditions!
And the dragonfly represents a moment of awakening- the clarity that comes when we stop forcing and start trusting…….. a touch of magic and transformation!
